Hi all,
We have finished the prototype phase of Cynitor a browser dashboard and API server for Cyphal (UAVCAN) networks on CAN and CAN FD: a GUI counterpart to yakut monitor. It is one program for Linux and Windows that talks to the CAN adapter and serves the dashboard, so the machine on the bus needs nothing else, and whoever looks at it needs only a browser.
What it does today:
- Lists every node with its health, mode, version, message rate and uptime, shows its subjects live, and plots any numeric field
- Reads and writes registers, calls any service from a form built from its type, and updates firmware through the node’s Cyphal bootloader
- Records and replays traffic, and plays raw CAN logs (candump format) back as if they were the live bus
- Has a network graph, a DSDL browser and editor for your own types, test nodes to publish from, and a raw frame monitor
- Works with SocketCAN, candleLight (gs_usb), PCAN, Kvaser, Vector, IXXAT and slcan adapters, and has a simulated bus to try it without hardware
It is tested on real hardware (a gs_usb CAN FD adapter and an STM32 Cyphal node) on Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10.
Now we would like to hear from you: what is missing, what gets in the way, what breaks on your bus or adapter, and what would make it worth keeping open next to your other tools. Replies here or GitHub issues/PRs are both welcome.
